1. Who we are
Girl, Help Me ("the Platform", "we", "us") operates the web application and services available at girlhelpme.co. We are a women's community platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly:
- Account information — email address, display name, username, and profile photo when you sign up
- Content you post — questions, responses, poll options, and any media you upload
- Communications — messages sent through session notes or contact forms
- Payment information — processed and stored by Stripe. We do not store card details on our servers
We collect information automatically:
- Usage data — pages visited, features used, time spent, referral source
- Device information — browser type, operating system, screen size
- Approximate location — derived from IP address for safety and compliance purposes only
3. How we use your information
- To provide and operate the Platform and its features
- To verify account identity and enforce our women-only access policy
- To process session bookings and payments
- To send notifications about responses to your posts, session reminders, and platform updates
- To detect and respond to crisis signals (see our Trust & Safety policy)
- To improve the Platform through analytics
- To comply with legal obligations
4. Anonymous posting
When you post anonymously, your display name and avatar are hidden from the community. However, your account identity is retained internally for safety, moderation, and legal compliance purposes. Anonymous does not mean unaccountable — it means your situation is private from the public feed.
5. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
- Service providers — Clerk (authentication), Neon (database), Cloudflare R2 (media storage), Ably (real-time messaging), Daily.co (video sessions), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), PostHog (analytics). Each provider is bound by data processing agreements.
- Law enforcement — when required by law, court order, or to protect against imminent harm
- Business transfers — in the event of a merger or acquisition, with appropriate notice
6. Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time via Settings → Delete Account or by emailing hello@girlhelpme.co. Posts and responses may remain after deletion in anonymised form to preserve community thread integrity, unless you request full removal.
7. Cookies and tracking
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We use PostHog for analytics. You may opt out of analytics tracking by contacting us or using browser-level cookie controls.
8. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and data
- Object to certain processing
- Data portability (receive your data in a structured format)

9. Children
Girl, Help Me is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has registered, please contact us immediately.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification before they take effect. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
